Central Jakarta Library to Provide Free Wi-Fi

To increase citizens’ interest in reading, Central Jakarta City Library and Archives Office will provide free internet facility to its visitors. By using this facility, the visitors can open digital catalog as well as read some book online for free. The plan has been proposed to Procurement Services Unit (ULP).

“This work program has been proposed to ULP. We’re targeting it to start in upcoming December,” stated Head of Central Jakarta City Library and Archives Office, Ajang P Pinem, Thursday (7/10).
According to Pinem, the library will also be equipped with various digital-based facilities. In addition, his party will build multi-function room, meeting room, and a mini theater with a capacity of 30 seats.
Row Village Will Have Free Library“On ground floor, we’ll build public areas like multi-function room and mini theater. There will be also Betawi house and public services. So, all services could finish on ground floor,” he uttered.
While on the second floor, Pinem continued, his party will build special library for children and teenagers. And on the third floor, it will be functioned as library specially intended for adults.
“That is because some of our book collections are not worth-reading for children. That’s why we make zoning system,” he explained.
Besides free internet facility, Central Jakarta City Library and Archives Office visitors will also be provided with computers that have been installed with educative games, a play ground, and reading room for children. While in adults library, there will be digital library, printer, a photo copy machine provided.
“Accessing e-book is expensive in rent. So, we provide the hardware and portal,” he told.
